Bali – A New Zealand national has been found dead on a popular surf beach in Bali. Jordon Lucas, 25, was a keen surfer and had been in Bali four months before his body was found washed up on the shore of Uluwatu beach. Authorities are treating the incident as a homicide and describe the body as having head injuries that were probably sustained before the body entered the water. Police were called to the beach last Tuesday after fishermen had discovered the body but there were delays in identifying him which meant the parents were only told the following Monday.
Family members are currently making their way from the family farm in Ngaruawahia, near Hamilton, to Bali to retrieve the body. Mr Lucas was a regular at the popular surf beach and had travelled to Bali on numerous occasions to pursue his passion. Uluwatu beach is described as having one of the best reef breaks in the world and is considered a beach for experienced surfers.
Jordon Lucas had a home he had built on the family farm in the Waikato, but had also spent a number of years living in Australia. He was an avid surfer and was described by a relative living in Bali as “a lovely kid, a lovely boy who just loved Bali”.
